SAP HANA on Azure

SAP HANA is an in-memory system for managing relational databases. Because HANA is based on a columnar structure, and stores all data in memory, data can be retrieved with very high performance compared to traditional RDBMS systems. SAP HANA is commonly used for next generation applications, business intelligence, and analytics. HANA is a relational database management system (RDBMS) built on column-oriented, in-memory operations. You can use it as an application database to perform real-time analytics, gather business intelligence, or centralize your operations. In Azure, HANA runs on a single instance.

SAP HANA on Azure (Large Instances) is a unique solution to Azure. In addition to providing virtual machines for deploying and running SAP HANA, Azure offers you the possibility to run and deploy SAP HANA on bare-metal servers that are dedicated to you. Azure SAP dedicates virtual machines and bare metal servers on which you can run SAP HANA. These are part of a larger SAP-certified environment, including servers, storage components, and network configuration. This is known as the Tailored Datacenters Integration (TDI).  SAP HANA on Azure (Large Instances) offers different server SKUs or sizes. Units can have 36 Intel CPU cores and 768 GB of memory and go up to units that have up to 480 Intel CPU cores and up to 24 TB of memory.

 

Azure supports SAP HANA with:

  • On-demand, SAP certified virtual machines (VMs) with up to 12TB memory
  • SAP HANA optimized instances with up to 20TB storage
  • Scaling up to 60 or 120TB supported by TDIv4 or TDIv5 authorization
  • Service level agreements (SLAs) for 99.99% availability

SAP NetWeaver on Azure virtual machine

Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine Services, Microsoft offers a comprehensive Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. SAP Net Weaver based applications are supported on Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS). NetWeaver is a solution you can use as a platform for application integration and development or as an application server. It enables you to centrally develop, provision, and manage your applications regardless of whether they are SAP applications. You can use it to customize existing SAP solutions or to integrate your solutions with SAP.
