Project Summary
Being a Customer centric organization, the team had to intend for the endless business continuity to be able to provide uninterrupted services to end-users. Hence, they were looking for a solution to increase performance of the existing website that was hosted on IaaS. They required the WordPress application to have an increased availability as well. Performance was a key. After assessing the client’s application and database our Azure experts decided to migrate the application to PaaS service.
Challenge
The WordPress website was taking a very long time to load up leading to several performance issues. There was no autoscaling or alerts available to warn the customer about high memory utilizations. Cost was going up every month to run the application on IaaS. Additional efforts for infrastructure management and administration.
Solution
We assigned a team of certified Azure experts who deeply analyzed entire website and its integration. We migrated the entire application and database as well to Azure App Service and Azure Database for MySQL. We also used Front Door to leverage the CDN and Web Application Firewall capability to increase performance and security. CDN helped to much better performance. Also SSL offloading was set up at the Front Door level to provide adequate security. Also Azure Monito helped to increase monitoring of the environment. Autoscaling was set up to handle high/low traffic conditions.
During this process, our team also helped the Microsoft Product Team with close feedback and even reported bugs that helped improve Azure App Service.
