About the Organization

Yuze Digital India is a fintech company offering a digital banking platform that supports card management, payments, digital wallets, and customer onboarding. The platform is designed to serve the growing demand for digital financial services in India.

The organization operates a cloud-based application environment on Microsoft Azure, supporting multiple microservices and transaction workflows. As the business expanded, the platform required modernization to meet regulatory requirements and support scalable, secure operations.

Challenge

Yuze Digital India was running its platform on Azure Virtual Machines in the UAE region. As the company prepared to expand in India, the existing setup created several challenges:

    1. Regulatory compliance requirements RBI guidelines required all financial data to reside within India, which the existing UAE-hosted environment did not support.
    2. Security limitations The platform relied on a legacy firewall nearing end-of-life, with no Azure-native web application firewall or private access controls in place.
    3. Scalability constraints VM-based infrastructure could not scale efficiently for continuous financial transaction workloads, limiting performance during peak usage.
    4. Operational and governance gaps Limited diagnostics, inconsistent configurations, and lack of infrastructure as code created challenges in maintaining audit readiness.
    5. Manual deployment processes The absence of CI/CD pipelines meant deployments were handled manually, increasing the risk of errors and slowing release cycles.
Solution

IFI Techsolutions designed and implemented a cloud-native architecture on Microsoft Azure, transitioning the platform from a VM-based setup to a containerized and managed services model using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Key elements of the solution implemented by IFI Techsolutions included:

    1. Application modernization and containerization Backend microservices were containerized and deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), enabling scalable and resilient application management.
    2. Scalable and resilient architecture AKS was configured with auto-scaling capabilities to handle continuous financial workloads and dynamic user demand.
    3. Clear and timely reporting Dashboards gave teams current views of transactions, budgets, inventory levels, and resource usage.
    4. Secure networking and access control Secure networking was implemented using Azure Application Gateway with WAF, private endpoints, and controlled outbound access to ensure secure communication across services.
    5. Automated deployment and infrastructure management CI/CD pipelines were established using Azure DevOps, supported by Terraform-based infrastructure as code for consistent and repeatable deployments.
    6. Monitoring, observability, and security Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights were configured for visibility, while Microsoft Defender for Cloud was enabled to strengthen security and compliance.
Architecture Overview
Area Implementation

Impact
The migration to AKS and Azure PaaS services delivered measurable improvements across compliance, security, and operations:
    1. Regulatory compliance achieved The platform was deployed in the Azure India region, ensuring data residency aligned with RBI guidelines.
    2. Enhanced security posture The legacy firewall was replaced with a modern WAF-based architecture, supported by private access and centralized controls, achieving 94% security coverage through Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
    3. Improved scalability and performance Containerized workloads and AKS auto-scaling enabled the platform to handle continuous transaction volumes efficiently.
    4. Modernized DevOps practices Automated CI/CD pipelines improved deployment reliability, with a DevOps maturity score of 82/100 reflecting improved operational capability.
    5. Operational efficiency Infrastructure as code reduced manual effort, improved consistency, and minimized configuration drift.
    6. Cost optimization The new architecture reduced infrastructure costs, delivering estimated savings of $42K per month through optimized resource usage and reserved capacity planning.
Conclusion

By transitioning from a VM-based architecture to a containerized and cloud-native platform, Yuze Digital India improved scalability, strengthened security, and achieved regulatory compliance.

The new architecture provides a stable and scalable foundation for digital banking operations, enabling the organization to support future growth while maintaining performance and compliance standards.
